Iran Condemns Israeli Desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman strongly condemned the move by two Israeli ministers and a crowd of illegal Zionist settlers to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex on Tuesday.

Nasser Kanaani said in a statement that the “provocative move” by the Israeli ministers and settlers was a clear example of the Zionists’ intention to foment tension and unrest in the region.

The sinister measure revealed the undeniable fact that the Zionist regime’s leaders seek to add fuel to the fire of their belligerence by hurting the religious feelings of Muslims in Palestine and the world, he added.

Kanaani also urged the US and certain other Western sponsors of the Zionist criminals to prove their concern for West Asia’s security and stability by reining in the Israeli regime immediately and ending its genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip and its adventurism in the region.

His comments came after at least two Israeli ministers joined hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers in storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem to mark a Jewish event.

According to the Israeli Ynet news website, far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, his fellow Otzma Yehudit party minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf and Knesset member of the Likud party Amit Halevi stormed into the complex to commemorate Tisha B'Av, an annual Jewish fast day that marks the occurrence of several disasters in Jewish history.

Approximately 2,250 Israeli settlers toured the complex and conducted Talmudic religious rituals, according to the Jordan-run Islamic Endowments Department, Anadolu Agency reported.

At least 39,929 people have been killed and 92,240 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
