Yemenis Rally in Support of Palestinians amid Ongoing Israeli War in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis took to the streets of Sanaa and other provinces on Friday afternoon, showing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes.

Despite heavy rain, large crowds gathered in the capital Sanaa for a protest dubbed the "million-man march."

Similar demonstrations were held in other provinces, including Hajjah, Hudaydah, Marib, and Saada.

Protesters waved Yemeni and Palestinian flags, chanting slogans in support of Palestinians.

They also expressed backing for Yemen’s pro-Gaza actions and the anticipated response of the Axis of Resistance to recent Israeli assassinations.

“The response is a definite decision…coming inevitable,” chanted the crowd.

Late last month, Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, followed by the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Protest organizers praised the resilience of the Palestinian people and their resistance fighters, particularly after a recent missile attack by Hamas on Tel Aviv.

They criticized international silence and Arab inaction on Israeli atrocities, denouncing recent incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque by far-right Israeli groups.

On Tuesday, over 2,200 Israeli settlers, including far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Yitzhak Wasserlauf, entered the al-Aqsa Mosque compound to mark Tisha B'Av, escalating tensions.

The compound, one of the holiest sites in Islam, is under an agreement between Israel and Jordan that prohibits non-Muslim worship, though the ban is often violated.

Meanwhile, Israel's ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which began in October, last year, has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian deaths, predominantly women and children.

Yemeni forces have conducted multiple operations targeting Israeli assets in support of Gaza since the Zionist war began.
