Egyptian FM Briefs Iranian Counterpart on Gaza Truce Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Egypt informed his Iranian counterpart about Cairo’s diplomatic efforts to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli regime has killed over 40,000 Palestinians in the past 11 months.
In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Saturday, Badr Abdelatty provided a report on Egypt’s recent diplomatic efforts to stop the Israeli war against Gaza and deliver international humanitarian aid to the enclave.
He also emphasized the need for all parties to try to prevent the expansion of war in the region.
Araqchi, for his part, thanked his Egyptian counterpart for the call and praised Cairo’s efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza that is acceptable to Hamas.
He further reasserted Iran’s legitimate right to respond to the Zionist regime's terrorist act in assassinating Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The two diplomats also agreed to continue consultations and political discussions regarding bilateral relations and regional developments.
At least 40,334 Palestinian people have been killed and 93,356 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023.
