Baku Eager for Closer Relations with Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan said his country is willing to promote friendly relations with Iran on the basis of good neighborliness.

Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in a telephone conversation on Sunday, congratulated his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi on taking office.

Bayramov referred to his country's desire to develop friendly relations with Iran based on good neighborliness, expressing hope that cooperation between Tehran and Baku would further expand during the new period.

For his part, Araqchi stated that the development of friendly relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of mutual interests is among the priorities in Iran’s foreign policy.

During the call, the two ministers also discussed the latest developments in the Caucasus and a series of international issues.

Stressing the need to expand bilateral relations through the constant exchange of high-level delegations, Bayramov and Araqchi called for the continuation of cooperation between the representatives of the two countries in the regional and international forums.
