2024 Paralympics: Rahimi Takes Iran’s First Medal in Taekwondo


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Taekwondo athlete Zahra Rahimi claimed Iran’s first medal in the 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday.

Rahimi defeated China’s Shao Qian 13-2 in her first match in the women’s -52kg k44 and then beat Brazilian Maria Eduarda Machado 6-4.

She emerged victorious over Georgian Ana Japaridze 6-0 in the semifinals.

Rahimi lost to Mongolia’s Ulambayar Surenjav 5-2 in the final match.

Bronze medal matches went to Japaridze and Turkey’s Meryem Betül Çavdar.

Iran has sent 65 athletes in 10 sports to Paris.
