Collective Action Necessary to End Gaza War: Araqchi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called for immediate and effectual concerted efforts to stop the Israeli regime’s violent onslaught on Gaza.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, the top Iranian diplomat and his Irish counterpart Micheal Martin discussed a range of issues, including the Israeli war on Gaza, the Ukraine crisis, and the negotiations on the removal of sanctions against Iran.

Pointing to the developments in Gaza, Martin voiced concern about the mounting tensions in the region, especially in Lebanon.

He stated that Ireland wants an immediate ceasefire and a prisoner swap in Gaza, so that humanitarian aid can be delivered to the Palestinian people in the besieged enclave.

Araqchi, for his part, said Iran and Ireland can expand their relations based on mutual respect.

Referring to the developments in West Asia, he underlined the need for an immediate cessation of war against the people of Gaza.

Araqchi added that Iran supports any agreement acceptable to Hamas and the Palestinian people, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Highlighting Iran’s efforts to deescalate tensions in the region, he said the Zionist regime is bent on intensifying violence and spreading it across the region, including to the West Bank.

“Therefore, all sides must make an immediate and effective effort to stop the violence in Gaza,” Araqchi added.

At least 40,786 Palestinian people have been killed and 94,224 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023.
