Iranian Powelifter Gharibshahi Bags Gold at 2024 Paralympic Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Ali Akbar Gharibshahi claimed a gold medal in the Men’s Up to 107kg of the 2024 Paralympic Games’ powerlifting competition on Sunday.

In the competition underway at the La Chapelle Arena in Paris, the Iranian powerlifter lifted 252kg and broke the Paralympic record.

Mongolia’s Sodnompiljee Enkhbayar won the silver with 248kg and the bronze medal went to Mexican Jose de Jesus Castillo with 222kg.

Another Iranian heavyweight Ahmad Aminzadeh will compete in the Men’s +107kg on Sunday afternoon.
