Palestine Says Latest Israeli ‘Massacre’ Enabled by International Community’s Failures
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the global community for its failure to enforce international law to stop Israel’s military atrocities in Gaza, with a focus on the recent attack on al-Mawasi.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement slamming the international community for failing to implement international law to halt Israel’s war in Gaza and enabling the regime to continue its massacres in Gaza, including the recent strike in the al-Mawasi area.
The ministry stressed that only an immediate ceasefire could protect Palestinian civilians and pave the way for a prisoner exchange deal.
Gaza's Health Ministry confirmed that the bodies of 19 people were recovered following the strike on al-Mawasi in Khan Younis.
"There are still victims under the rubble, and rescue teams have been unable to reach them," the ministry said, adding that many have yet to be transported to hospitals.
Survivors described the devastation, with Samah Abu Rahmeh recounting how their tents were engulfed in flames.
"We woke up to missiles firing at us, the tents were like an inferno," she told Al Jazeera.
"This was supposed to be a safe zone, but it’s all lies," she said.
Fayez Hassan also witnessed the aftermath, saying, "We rushed to find bodies blown to pieces and others injured. The scenes were beyond words."
He condemned the attack as part of Israel’s "barbaric airstrikes."
Dr. Bara Zuhaili, a vascular surgeon recently returned from Gaza, expressed deep concern over the toll these attacks have on civilians.
“When I hear of attacks like this, my heart goes out to those who survived,” he told Al Jazeera.
The surgeon recalled a similar scene at Nasser Hospital where a mother frantically moved between her two daughters—one with fatal shrapnel wounds, and the other who had lost both legs.
"This young mother was torn physically and mentally, saying goodbye to one child while trying to be with the other who was actively bleeding," he said.
A quiet night for 22-year-old Tala Herzallah in southern Gaza turned into a scene of devastation when Israeli missiles struck a tented encampment in al-Mawasi early Tuesday morning.
Herzallah, a university student, described how everything changed in seconds, with missiles landing just 200 meters from where her family slept.
"The night sky was replaced by flames, smoke, and destruction," she recalled.
"I saw only red and grey. Screams and ambulances were all I could hear," she said, adding that it felt like a nightmare come to life.
The scale of the attack was overwhelming, Herzallah said, noting that the missiles seemed intended for larger targets.
"These missiles were meant for the biggest buildings, not for tents made of the weakest materials in the world," she added.
As of the latest reports, Gaza's Health Ministry stated that 41,020 people have been killed and 94,925 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 7.
In the last 24 hours alone, 32 Palestinians were killed, and 100 more were injured.
