Hamas Leader Pledges Unyielding Resistance in Letter to Hezbollah Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - In a letter addressed to Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar vowed that the resistance movement would "remain steadfast" in its struggle against Israel.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has assured Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that the Palestinian resistance group will remain committed to its efforts against Israel, following the assassination of former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

"We in the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas received with great appreciation and pride your kind message, congratulating and condoling our two martyrs and your companion in jihad and resistance, and the loss of the nation, the mujahid leader, Mr. Ismail Haniyeh," Sinwar wrote, according to PressTV.

He expressed gratitude for Nasrallah's solidarity, stating, "Your solidarity mixed with sincere and noble feelings were expressed by your blessed actions on the fronts of the resistance axis, in support, backing, and engagement in this battle. We ask God Almighty to bless your efforts and protect you and your country from harm."

Haniyeh, who was the former head of Hamas's political bureau, was assassinated in an attack on August 1 in Tehran. He was in the Iranian capital for the swearing-in ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The attack was widely condemned by the Iranian government and other regional countries. Iranian leadership vowed a strong response to avenge the death of the Hamas official.

"Our martyr leader, the symbol of the nation and Palestine, Abu al-Abd, ascends in the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, one of the most honorable battles of our Palestinian people in history, on the path of the martyr leaders, so that his blood, the blood of his sons, grandchildren and family meet with the great sacrifices made by our people in Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem and the occupied interior, confirming that the blood of our leaders and mujahideen is not more precious than the blood of our people, and that this intelligent blood and blessed convoys of martyrs will increase in strength and power in confronting the Nazi Zionist occupation," Sinwar added.

The assassination took place amidst ongoing Israeli genocidal war in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths of over 41,000 people, the majority of them women and children.

Sinwar reaffirmed Hamas's commitment to its cause, stating, "We also affirm that the movement will remain, as it has always been, steadfast on the path of loyalty to the blood of the martyrs, and that the lofty principles that the martyred leader Abu al-Abd called for will remain steadfast and present, and that its movement and our fighters will continue to follow them, foremost among which is the unity of our Palestinian people in the choice of jihad and resistance, and the unity of the nation, with the axis of resistance at its heart in the face of the Zionist project in defense of our nation and our sanctities, foremost among which are al-Quds and Al-Aqsa, until the occupation is defeated and swept away from our land.”

He concluded by underscoring the group's dedication to Palestinian unity, resistance, and the ultimate goal of establishing an independent state with al-Quds as its capital.
