Iran Calls for Justice After Deadly Terrorist Attack in Afghanistan's Ghor Province

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran denounced a terrorist attack carried out by Daesh (ISIS-K) in Afghanistan, urging authorities to punish those responsible for the deaths of 14 people in Ghor Province.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani, strongly condemned the terrorist attack on people welcoming pilgrims returning from Iraq’s Karbala in a region between the Daikundi and Ghor provinces of central Afghanistan.

In a statement on Friday, Kanaani expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

He urged authorities to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.

The Khurasan branch of the ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place in the "Kariyo Dal" area between Daikundi and Ghor provinces.

Reports confirmed the death of 14 people, with four others wounded in the assault.

According to some sources, the militant stopped a bus carrying locals under the pretense of taking photos of pilgrims before opening fire on the passengers.
