Iran, Russia to Sign Strategic Cooperation Deal During Presidential Visit: MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian lawmaker unveiled plans for the finalization of a strategic cooperation agreement between Tehran and Moscow during an upcoming visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Russia.

Speaking to Tasnim, member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abolfazl Zohrevand said Iran and Russia are moving in the course of strategic cooperation.

He noted that a long-awaited strategic cooperation agreement between the two states will be signed during President Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Russia.

The presidential visit to Russia must be accordingly made after Pezeshkian’s participation in the UN General Assembly in New York, the MP added.

The lawmaker also rejected reports alleging that Iran has sold Russia ballistic missiles for the Ukraine war, saying European governments seek to put pressure on the public opinion in Iran to obstruct the process of strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin appreciated the significance of efforts by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei at the promotion of relations between Moscow and Tehran.

He also expressed Russia’s determination to cooperate with Iran in various areas, saying Russia and Iran have many important and interesting topics for cooperation.
