Iran Warns of Response After Ambassador Injured in Israeli Attack on Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has informed the United Nations of its intent to respond to an Israeli terrorism and sabotage attack in Lebanon, which injured Iran’s ambassador to the Arab country.

Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani submitted a letter to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, holding Israel responsible for committing terrorist acts in Lebanon that have claimed over 30 civilian lives and left thousands injured.

Iravani's message came after a series of explosions in Beirut, which killed over 30 civilians and injured Iran's ambassador.

The explosions, reportedly caused by wireless communication devices, occurred in multiple locations across Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburbs.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will duly follow up on the attack against its ambassador in Lebanon, which resulted in his injury, and reserves its rights under international law to take required measures deemed necessary to respond to such a heinous crime and violation," Iravani wrote.

Iravani condemned Israel’s "cowardly and vicious" attacks on Lebanese civilians, calling them a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He warned that such actions by Israel threaten regional peace and security.

He also held the Israeli regime accountable for the attacks, describing them as a blatant violation of international law, including the UN Charter. Iravani further criticized Western countries, particularly the United States, for their unwavering support of Israel, which he said contributes to the ongoing acts of violence by the occupying Israeli regime.

He described Israel’s “heinous, widespread and systematic” acts as “crimes against humanity,” aimed at inflicting suffering on civilians and killing them. Urging swift action from the international community, he called on the UN to condemn Israel’s actions and hold its officials accountable.

"The UN Secretary-General and the Security Council must condemn unequivocally Israel’s terrorist action and heinous crime against the head of Iran's diplomatic mission in Lebanon," Iravani emphasized.

He urged the UN to take decisive action to end Israel’s aggression against Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, and called for an end to an ongoing genocidal war against people of Palestine.
