Iranian President Goes to UN in Pursuit of Peace

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian left Tehran for New York on Sunday morning to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking to reporters before departing Tehran, the Iranian president described the UN trip as an opportunity for negotiations with the heads of countries about the promotion of peace and security.

Pezeshkian noted that he will also hold meetings with the Iranian expatriates in the US to depict an accurate image of Iran.

“Iran belongs to all Iranians, and the expatriates have also a share in the country,” he noted.

Pezeshkian said he will express Iran’s stances in talks with the media outlets and discuss various issues, from economy and investment to the tourism industry.

The Iranian president is scheduled to address the UNGA meeting on Tuesday, September 24.

He is also planned to hold meetings with Iranian expatriates residing in the US, leaders of religions, media managers, and members of American think tanks.

Pezeshkian will also speak at the Summit of the Future, an event aimed at forging new consensus on meeting the needs of current and future generations.
