Iranian, Qatari Economy Ministers Hold Talks in Samarkand

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Economy Abdolnasser Hemmati met and held talks with his Qatari counterpart in Samarkand on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties and issues of the mutual interest.

Hemmati, for his part, said that Qatar is a strategic partner of Iran and expressed hope that the foreign ministers of the two countries could agree on how to facilitate the use of mutual capacities.

Also, the Qatari minister of economy said that his country attaches great importance to its relation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing that Iran has valuable experiences in various fields especially the financial issues.

He expressed hope that a joint committee for the financial exchanges between Iran and Qatar will be activated following the upcoming visit of Iranian president to Qatar in near future.

Iran’s minister of economy has traveled to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, for participating in the 9th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in 2024.
