Hezbollah Targets Zionist Settlements as Israeli Airstrikes Hit Southern Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Hezbollah announced a series of missile attacks on Israeli settlements in northern occupied Palestine, while Israel continued to bomb southern Lebanon, killing nine civilians.

Lebanese Islamic resistance movement of Hezbollah, in its fourth statement on Friday, claimed responsibility for a missile strike on the Israeli settlement of Ilaniya, using the Fadi-1 missile.

In a statement, Hezbollah said its fighters, acting in solidarity with the people of Gaza and in defense of Lebanon, launched the attack on Ilaniya on September 27, 2024, in retaliation for Israeli aggression.

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah announced it had also targeted the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Ata in northern occupied Palestine with the same type of missile.

The resistance group later confirmed two missile attacks on the city of Tiberias, located in northern occupied Palestine, as part of its ongoing operations.

Zionist media reported warning sirens sounding near Lake Tiberias, followed by loud explosions, while Lebanese media indicated that a new wave of missile attacks was launched from Lebanese territory.

The Israeli newspaper Hayom reported that five missiles landed in open areas around Tiberias.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes hit multiple locations in southern Lebanon on Friday. News outlets reported strikes near the city of Tyre (Sour) and the towns of Al-Sarafand and Khirbet Selm.

Israeli drone attacks were also reported near Badnayel, in the Beqaa region of eastern Lebanon.

A strike on a residential home in the town of Shebaa left nine members of a family dead, according to Lebanese sources.

The Israeli military stated that it had targeted Hezbollah's infrastructure, military bases, and missile launch platforms in southern Lebanon in dozens of attacks.

Additional reports indicated that the town of Al-Najariyeh was also hit, and, for the first time, Israeli airstrikes targeted the border town of Arsal in the Baalbek district of eastern Lebanon.

Israel has dismissed global calls for a ceasefire with Hezbollah and continues a bombing campaign that has killed more than 700 people in Lebanon since Monday.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Washington will continue backing Israel as Tel Aviv secures a new $8.7bn US military assistance package, and dismissed “red lines” in Israel’s assaults on Gaza and Lebanon.
