Iraqi Resistance Launches Fresh Drone Attacks on Israeli Targets

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for a series of drone and missile attacks on key Israeli targets in retaliation for Israel's ongoing military aggressions in Gaza and Lebanon.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella anti-terrorism group representing various Iraqi resistance factions, announced on Sunday night that it had conducted new operations targeting Israeli sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, the resistance group said it struck a "vital target" in the port city of Eilat using drones.

“In continuation of our approach to resisting the occupation, and in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon, and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq today, Sunday 29-09-2024, attacked a vital target in Umm al-Rashrash ‘Eilat’ in our occupied lands, using drones,” the statement said.

The group added that additional drone strikes targeted two other locations in the occupied territories. A third operation involved missile strikes on Israeli targets, according to the group.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq emphasized that it would continue its operations in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza and Lebanon.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the group carried out two drone attacks on strategic sites in the southern Israeli-occupied territories.

The Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for both attacks, stating that they would persist in striking significant Israeli installations across the occupied areas.

Later, the group announced another drone strike targeting a vital location in the same region.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has been engaged in these operations since Israel began its military campaign in Gaza in early October. The Iraqi resistance group has also targeted US military bases in Iraq and Syria, condemning Washington's support for Israel during its genocidal war.

Since October last year, Israel has intensified its bombardment of Gaza, targeting civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, residential buildings, and places of worship.

The ongoing Israeli war has resulted in the deaths of at least 41,586 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children, with another 96,210 people injured.

Additionally, an estimated 1.9 million residents, roughly 90% of Gaza’s population, have been displaced.
