Launching PTA, FTA with EAEU States to Facilitate Business, Trade: TPOI

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mohammad Ali Dehghan Dehnavi said that launching a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will greatly ease the business and trade activities between the two sides.

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak along with Dehghan Dehnavi traveled to the Armenian capital of Yerevan to take part in the Iran-EAEU Business Forum.

They held a meeting with Iranian economic activists and entrepreneurs in Yerevan, during which the activists emphasized the development of all-out ties with Armenia in the fields of trade and economy and called on the responsible officials to remove the trade barriers facing the economic activists of the country, Mehr news agency reported.

Dehghan Dehnavi, who is the deputy minister of industry, mine and trade, stressed the need to launch an FTA between Iran and the EAEU member states in order to spur trade and economic activities, adding that signing a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and an FTA between the two sides will facilitate the trade and economic activities to a great extent.

The threefold growth of trade between Tehran and Yerevan, attaining the target of exporting over $700 million of goods to Armenia in recent years and $3 billion in annual trade between the two countries herald booming the country’s economic relations with its northern neighbor in the coming years, he added.
