Diplomat Outlines Iran’s Push for Global Condemnation of Israeli Crimes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A deputy foreign minister highlighted the efforts the Iranian officials have made at the UN General Assembly to draw the international community’s attention to the Israeli regime’s atrocities against Palestine and Lebanon.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said the issue of Palestine and Lebanon was the main topic of discussion at this year's UN General Assembly meetings and consultations.

In the meantime, the Iranian delegation played a prominent role in attracting the attention of the international community to the crimes of the Zionist regime, he stated.

The deputy minister added that the Iranian delegation, at the level of president, foreign minister and other officials, have discussed a range of issues in their speeches and meetings, including the crimes of the Zionist regime and the need for the international community to deal with it, the inaction of the UN Security Council and the need for its active and responsible approach, the need to immediately stop the Zionist regime's crimes and aggression, and the fact that the Zionist regime constitutes the most important threat to regional and international peace and security.

Gharibabadi added that in this regard, the Iranian president held dozens of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from different countries, made speeches at the Summit of the Future 2024 and at the UN General Assembly, held meetings with the media, research institutes and US scholars and did interviews with both American and Arab media outlets during which he discussed the issue of Palestine in detail.

The issue of Palestine and Lebanon topped the agenda of the Iranian foreign minister and other members of the Iranian delegation, Gharibabadi added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He added that in the wake of the aggression of the Zionist regime against Lebanon and the martyrdom of Secretary General of Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, IRGC general Brigadier General Nilforoushan and a number of ordinary people, the Iranian foreign minister held urgent meetings with the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the secretary general of the UN and the president of the General Assembly.

Gharibabadi noted that the Iranian foreign minister reminded them of their responsibilities in this critical situation and, by issuing the necessary warnings, called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the summit level.

Gharibabadi criticized the inaction of the Security Council to stop the crimes of the Zionist regime in Palestine and Lebanon, despite widespread protests by a broad range of countries in the UN, adding that this situation where the murderous and criminal Zionist gang continues its crimes with impunity will only lead to the loss of more innocent lives.
