Khatoon’s Tough Job against Melbourne City in AFC Women's Champions League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bam Khatoon of Iran will start the AFC Women's Champions League 2024-25 on Sunday with a match against powerhouse Melbourne City in Group B.

In another match, Thailand’s College of Asian Scholars will play the Philippines’ Kaya FC-Iloilo.

Australian champion Melbourne City will be keen to get its campaign off to a winning start when it faces Khatoon FC.

Melbourne has recruited well for the new season with the likes of Mariana Speckmaier, Malena Mieres, Lourdes Bosch, Alexia Apostolakis and Emilia Murray possibly being given debuts on Sunday.

Bam Khatoon reached the group stage after topping Group D of the Preliminary Round with wins against Hong Kong, China’s Kitchee SC and Royal Thimphu College FC of Bhutan.

Veteran forward Zahra Ghanbari continues to be the heartbeat of Bam Khatoon and her performance will play a crucial role in determining whether Marziyeh Jafari’s side can take something from this match.

The match will be held at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand.
