Iran’s Membership in EAEU, BRICS, SCO Helping to Boost Trade: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) emphasized that Iran’s membership in international economic unions helps boost its trade and economy.

Director General of the TPO's Indian Subcontinent Office Hadi Taleian Moghaddam highlighted the significance of Iran’s membership in international economic unions such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), BRICS group of the emerging economies and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and said it paves the ways for expanding the country's trade and economy.

He pointed to the significance of exports in the growth and development of the economy and said that in the contemporary world, getting a good share of new markets is a difficult task and requires integrated and unified planning at various levels.”

The development of exports requires compiling strategy, policymaking and concerted planning, Talebian Moghaddam stated, IRNA reported.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the official referred to the role of the TPOI in backing exporters and said that signing preferential- and free trade agreements (PTAs and FTAs) and establishing joint trade-economic committees between countries are among such acts of support from the organization.

Once PTAs and FTAs are defined between Iran and other countries, export promotion will be facilitated, Talebian Moghaddam underlined.
