IRGC Navy Chief Urges Neighbors Not to Be Deceived by Enemies
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Referring to a joint statement by the European Union and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council that has questioned Iran’s sovereignty over its three Persian Gulf islands, the commander of the IRGC Navy advised the neighbors to avoid a trap set by enemies.
A number of battalions of Basij (voluntary) forces attended a military event on Iran’s southern island of Abu Musa on Thursday morning.
The gathering came a few days after the final statement of the EU-Persian Gulf Cooperation Council joint summit raised unfounded claims about Iran’s three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb.
Addressing the military forces on the Iranian island, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri underscored that the three islands in question are and will remain part of Iran’s soil forever.
He advised the neighbors of Iran not to be deceived by the enemy, citing an old Iranian saying that says ‘it would be a mistake to test what has been already tested’.
The IRGC Navy commander said the hostile claims against Iran have been raised once again by the EU and US amid the dire regional conditions and the crimes being committed by the Israeli regime against Gaza and Lebanon.
Stressing the need for Muslim unity and vigilance in the face of hostile plots, Tangsiri said the issue of the trio Iranian islands has been mooted by the EU to divert attention from the main enemy.
