US Expected to Avoid Escalatory Actions: Iranian Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – No matter which party has won the US presidential election, what counts is the American government’s deeds, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said, noting that the US is expected to avoid bellicosity and stop the Israeli regime’s genocidal crimes.
Asked about the US presidential election results, Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press conference on Monday that while the American people’s voting pattern needs to be studied, the matter of concern for the West Asia region is the US’ actions.
The fact is that the US’ hostile policies against Iran have been in place for the past four years, he said, attributing the continuation of Israeli atrocities in Gaza and the spread of war into Lebanon to Washington’s support for the Zionist regime and prevention of any serious action from the United Nations in this regard.
He also expressed hope that the US government would avert the escalation of warmongering policies, saying the new US administration is expected to learn lessons from the past and honor its pledges.
“What matters is that the region and all countries are monitoring the US administration’s behavior,” Baqaei added.
