FM Raps EU3’s Push for Anti-Iran Resolution at IAEA
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian foreign minister warned the European troika that their plan to table a resolution against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency will damage the course of cooperation between Tehran and the UN nuclear agency and complicate issues.
In a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot, Abbas Araqchi strongly deplored the decision by France, Germany and the UK to table a resolution against Iran at the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.
He warned that the move by the European troika is in direct contradiction to the positive atmosphere created in the interaction between Iran and the UN nuclear agency and would further complicate the matters.
Araqchi also denounced the EU’s recent “unjustifiable and provocative” decision to impose new sanctions against Iran.
Pointing to the regional developments, the Iranian foreign minister condemned the Israeli regime’s relentless acts of aggression against Lebanon and continued genocidal crimes in Gaza, and reminded the sponsors of the Zionist regime of their responsibility for the continuation of catastrophe.
Araqchi also called for serious efforts by all relevant parties to force the Israeli regime to stop attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 43,972 Palestinians and wounded 104,008 since October 7, 2023.
In Lebanon, at least 3,544 people have been killed and 15,036 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
