Iran Urges Interaction with Japan on Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran called for uninterrupted consultations between Tehran and Tokyo on the regional issues, particularly the developments in Syria.

Abbas Araqchi and Funakoshi Takehiro, the senior deputy minister for foreign affairs of Japan, met in Tehran on Sunday.

The top Iranian diplomat hailed the “good and friendly” relations between Tehran and Tokyo, welcoming negotiations on the bilateral ties as well as the regional and international issues.

Araqchi also highlighted the necessity for continued consultations between Iran and Japan considering the recent regional developments, as in Syria, saying Tehran and Tokyo have common concerns about sustainable security and stability in the region.

For his part, the Japanese diplomat lauded his country’s age-old relations with Iran.

He also stressed the need for constant interaction between Japan and Iran to promote bilateral relations and help resolve regional and international problems.
