Iran Concerned About Violence in Syria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei expressed concern about the recent incidents in various Syrian cities.
Referring to the public protests against desecration of a sacred site in Syria, Baqaei expressed astonishment at baseless accusations against Iran made by certain media circles alleging interference in Syria’s internal affairs, and categorically rejected such claims.
He reiterated Iran’s principled stance in supporting Syria’s territorial integrity, national unity, and the establishment of an inclusive political system that ensures the participation of all political factions, ethnic groups, and religious communities. He emphasized the importance of respecting minority rights and safeguarding religious sites, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
Baqaei further stressed the necessity of preventing the escalation of insecurity and violence against different segments of the Syrian society and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
