Coordination with Leader Bedrock of Internal Cohesion: Iranian President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described his administration’s coordination with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as a cornerstone for strengthening internal cohesion.
In an interview on December 30, 2024, with the media office for the preservation and publication of the works of Imam Khamenei, President Pezeshkian discussed his regular meetings with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Pointing to his Tuesday meeting with the Leader, the president said the main concerns included inflation, control of prices, and resolving people’s livelihood issues.
He provided details about the Tuesday’s meeting, highlighting that the primary concern remains addressing the economic challenges faced by Iranian citizens, controlling prices, reducing poverty, and establishing social justice.
The president underscored that coordination with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution serves as a cornerstone for strengthening internal cohesion. “These meetings not only reinforce unity among the branches of government, but also facilitate the resolution of many of the country's problems,” he stated.
The president stated that the primary focus of the recent meeting was on controlling inflation and the targeted allocation of subsidies. “Our objective is to ensure that subsidies reach the end consumer, and in this regard, teams have been established to examine the current trends,” he said, khamenei.ir reported.
Pezeshkian described another focal point of his recent meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei as strengthening ties with neighboring and independent countries. He emphasized that economic collaboration with these countries could bolster the national economy and open new avenues for trade.
In addressing a question regarding strategies to overcome the energy crisis and rectify its imbalances, the president underscored the crucial role of public participation. He stated, “If energy consumption in non-essential sectors is controlled, the resources obtained can be redirected towards improving people’s livelihoods and advancing infrastructure projects.”
He specifically highlighted the need for electricity and energy conservation, asserting, “These measures can effectively offer solutions without placing pressure on people.”
Pezeshkian emphasized that instead of relying on general prescriptions, it is essential to focus on solving specific problems and to avoid vague statements. He highlighted that social welfare is currently one of the most pressing matters faced by the government, which is discussed in weekly council meetings.
Pezeshkian urged that these discussions should prioritize concrete solutions rather than generalizations, particularly concerning issues such as housing and the livelihoods of the underprivileged.
The president also announced a plan to address the shortage of classrooms and schools in remote areas, which would be implemented with the participation of the public, philanthropists, and a nationwide mobilization aimed at reducing educational inequality. Pezeshkian expressed optimism that this issue will be completely resolved within the next year.
At the conclusion of this interview, the president emphasized the significance of unity and cohesion inside the country. “If the people believe that the government is working hard to address their problems, no enemy will be able to harm the country. Unity among the branches of government and adherence to the policies of the Leader can effectively manage all the challenges ahead,” he stated.
