Hungary Lost One Billion Euro of EU Funding Due to Violation of Statute Law Supremacy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hungary lost the first EU funding tranche of 1.04 bln euro due to violations of statute law supremacy, AFP reported, citing a statement of the European Commission’s press service.
Funds were intended for implementation of the development program of the EU region by 2027 (with the total volume of 22 bln euro from 2021 to 2027) and stipulated the pre-financing payment of 322 mln euro to Hungary, TASS reported.
Hungary was to implement required legislative reforms by the end of 2024 to receive this money, the European Commission told the news agency. It said earlier in its report for July 2024 that Hungary does not meet democratic standards of the EU.
