$1.11 Million in Smuggled Goods Seized by Border Guards in Bushehr

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Border Commander of Bushehr Province, south of Iran, announced the seizure of six vessels and the discovery of smuggled goods worth over 89 billion Rials (approximately $1.11 million) along the province's coasts in the current month.

Colonel Abdollah Khosravi, in an interview with Tasnim News Agency, expressed gratitude for the cooperation of coastal residents and border guards in maintaining security and peace along Bushehr's coasts.

He revealed that six smuggled vessels were seized during four operations along Bushehr Province's coasts in December.

The Border Commander stated that over 64,700 items, including various goods and equipment, were discovered during these operations.

The value of the seized goods was estimated at more than 89 billion Rials (approximately $1.11 million), and nine suspects were referred to the judiciary authorities.

Khosravi stressed the continuous fight against smuggling in Bushehr's coastal areas. He added that, in line with the annual slogan promoting production growth, combating smuggled goods remains a priority for the border guards, with a focus on supporting domestic production.
