Iran Condemns US-UK Strikes on Yemen as Crime of Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the fresh military attacks by the US and the UK against Yemen, describing the recurrent strikes as a brazen example of the crime of aggression.

In a statement on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the renewed US and UK military strikes targeting infrastructure in Yemen’s Sana’a, Hodeidah, and Amran provinces.

He stated that such criminal actions will not weaken the steadfast resolve of the heroic Yemeni people in their expression of support for and solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, the ministry’s website reported.

The repeated aggressions by the US and the UK against Yemen’s infrastructure are carried out in support of the Zionist regime and as an extension of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians, the Iranian spokesman added.

He described those attacks as a blatant violation of the international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, saying they constitute "crimes of aggression" as defined under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

Baqaei also slammed the UN Security Council’s inaction regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the military assaults by the US, the UK, and the Israeli regime on Yemen’s vital infrastructures.

He criticized the UN Security Council’s clear failure to fulfill its obligations to halt "aggressive acts" and "repeated breaches of peace”, holding the complicit states accountable for their international responsibility in creating this situation.

The Iranian spokesperson finally urged the international community, particularly the Islamic and regional countries, to take decisive action to end the occupation, genocide, and aggressions committed by the Zionist regime and its supporters against the people of the region.
