Yemeni Officials Condemn US Strikes as Violation of Country's Sovereignty
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's Supreme Political Council condemned recent US airstrikes, calling them a clear violation of the country's sovereignty and an act of support for Israeli crimes in Gaza.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, condemned the US strikes on Tuesday, labeling them as part of a “dirty mission” aimed at encouraging Israel to continue its crimes in Gaza.
He accused Washington of attempting to impose the rule of the jungle rather than the rule of law, all to back the Israeli regime.
Al-Houthi emphasized that Yemen would not cease its opposition to US aggression and would continue to support Gaza.
Mohammad Abdulsalam, another Yemeni official, also condemned the strikes, stressing that those seeking regional security must restrain Israel rather than providing it with more time, weapons, and political cover.
“The US aggression on Yemen is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of an independent state, and blatant support for Israel to encourage it to continue its crimes of genocide against the people of Gaza,” Abdulsalam said.
He further reaffirmed that Yemen would persist in defending itself against any form of aggression and remain steadfast in its support for Gaza.
These remarks followed confirmation from the US Army that its Navy ships and aircraft had carried out new attacks on multiple Yemeni locations.
The US military confirmed that at least twelve airstrikes hit Sana’a and other coastal areas, with no casualties reported.
“On December 30 and 31, US Navy ships and aircraft targeted a Houthi command and control facility and advanced conventional weapon (ACW) production and storage facilities that included missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV),” the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X.
Since Israel's brutal offensive in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, Yemen has openly expressed its support for Palestine's struggle.
Yemenis have targeted Israeli ships and vessels in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared that they will not cease their attacks until Israel’s ground and aerial offensives in Gaza come to an end.
