Motorcycle Parade Marks 46th Anniversary of Imam Khomeini's Return to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A nationwide motorcycle parade commemorating Imam Khomeini's historic return to Iran in 1979 and the beginning of the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, was held in Tehran and across the country.

The celebration of the anniversary of Imam Khomeini's arrival in Iran on February 1, 1979, was held nationwide.

As the exact moment of Imam Khomeini's arrival at Mehrabad Airport in 1979 was marked, the festivities for the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution began.

A key event of the day is the motorcycle parade, retracing the path taken by the late Imam from Mehrabad Airport to Behesht Zahra. The route is currently being showered with flowers in remembrance.

In addition, the Friday prayers in Tehran are being held at the shrine of Imam Khomeini.

Imam Khomeini had lived many years in exile, in Iraq and France, before returning home and leading a historical revolution that overthrew Pahlavi regime.

The 10-day period from the return of Imam Khomeini until the revolution’s victory is celebrated annually in Iran, and is known as the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn).
