Egyptians Rally Against Trump’s Proposal to Displace Palestinians to Arab Nations

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Hundreds of Egyptians, including parliamentarians and pro-government party leaders, traveled to the Rafah crossing in North Sinai on Friday to protest US President Donald Trump’s proposal to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan.

The buses displayed banners in Arabic, English, and French reading “No to displacement” and “Sinai is a red line.”

Sources told Al-Quds Al-Arabi that pro-government parties had intensified efforts in recent days to mobilize citizens, organizing delegations from various governorates to head to the Rafah crossing in support of Egypt’s official stance rejecting the displacement plan.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reiterated his opposition to any attempts to displace Palestinians, emphasizing that Egypt would not participate in the injustice faced by the Palestinian people.

The Egyptian Democratic Party organized a popular delegation that departed for the Rafah crossing at dawn.

Farid Zahran, in a statement on the party’s official page, confirmed that all arrangements for the delegation’s travel to the Rafah crossing had been finalized to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and reject forced displacement.

Zahran had earlier called on popular forces, political parties, professional unions, and all segments of Egyptian society to join the delegation heading to the Rafah crossing on Friday to stand in solidarity with Palestinians and oppose attempts to undermine their rights.

He stated that the protest would denounce unjust plans violating international law and threatening regional stability, adding that participants would unite under one slogan: solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to any effort to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

Zahran emphasized that the movement represented the Egyptian people in all their diversity, with no flags or slogans raised except those of Egypt and Palestine, alongside banners supporting Palestinians and rejecting displacement.

Meanwhile, buses carrying citizens from Port Said in eastern Egypt also moved toward the Rafah crossing at dawn to express their rejection of the displacement plans.

The Civil Democratic Movement, comprising opposition parties and public figures, submitted a request to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior to organize a protest outside the US embassy next Monday.

The request was signed by movement leaders, including former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi, Medhat El-Zahid, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Civil Movement, and Akmal Qartam, Chairman of the Conservative Party.

The signatories stated that the protest would oppose Trump’s statements on Palestinian displacement and would conclude with the submission of a protest petition to the US embassy.
