Fishermen Found Safe After Large-Scale Search Operation in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Two fishermen lost in the Persian Gulf were rescued in a large-scale search and rescue operation involving seven vessels and two helicopters, an Iranian maritime official said.

Mohammad Shakibi-Nasab, director general of Ports and Maritime Affairs in Bushehr, stated that the emergency response was launched after a distress call reported a missing fishing boat off the northern coast of the province. Strong winds and rough seas had made the situation more critical.

"Seven rescue vessels and two helicopters from the Offshore Oil Company were deployed immediately," he said. "Despite the difficult weather conditions, the missing boat and its two crew members were located."

Shakibi-Nasab confirmed that both fishermen were found in good health and were quickly transported to a medical center for further evaluation.

Brigadier General Abdollah Khosravi, commander of Bushehr’s Border Guard, noted that border security forces also participated in the search, working alongside the Ports and Maritime Administration and the Offshore Oil Company.

"With the joint efforts of our team and a tugboat from the Offshore Oil Company, the missing boat was found, and the crew was saved from imminent danger," Khosravi said.

Officials urged fishermen and sailors to follow weather warnings and avoid navigating in hazardous conditions to prevent similar incidents.
