Japan Will Produce Miracle, Japanese Star Predicts
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Keisuke Honda has predicted that the Asian champion will produce a "miracle" at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Japanese midfielder of AC Milan said on Monday that his team can reach the quarter-final.
Japan has been pitted against Greece, Colombia and Ivory Coast in Group C.
"Firstly, we can 100 percent get through our group," Honda was quoted as saying by Japan's Nikkan Sports daily.
Japan is scheduled to play Ivory Coast on June 14.
"After that anything can happen at a World Cup. We're good enough now to reach the quarter-final. Obviously we all need to stay fit but if we do the basics right 100 percent, no mistakes, we can get to the quarter-final. From there we can make miracles happen."
"I'm not talking idealistically, I'm being realistic," said the "Samurai Blue" player. "That's where the past 10 days of training will pay off."
