Iraqi Armed Forces Retake More Areas, Hit Extremist Terrorists
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Security forces in Iraq said Al-Muqdadiyah region in Diyala province has come under the control of the country’s military forces.
Sources close to Iraqi government said the military is fully dominant in Al-Muqdadiyah region.
This, as Almasalah website has quoted a security source who talked on condition of anonymity that the security forces in Diyala province have managed to kill 17 Baathist-extremist terrorists, adding that the operation against the terrorists is still in progress.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the Iraqi armed forces Major General Qassem Atta said security forces have killed at least 120 terrorists in different regions and destroyed their equipment. He also announced that the operation is Salahuddin has led to the control over many areas and destruction of 250 cars belonging to the terrorists.
Meanwhiel, there have also been fierce clashes between the tribal forces and Baathist-extremist terrorists in Al-Zolueiyeh region. During the clashes, 15 terrorists were killed while 17 were injured. At least 4 tribal forces were also killed in the clashes.
The ISIL terrorist group, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, has captured areas on both sides of the Iraqi-Syrian border after seizing the Iraqi city of Mosul on June 10 and sweeping towards Baghdad.
In Syria, ISIL Takfiri (extremist) militants have battled with government forces, wreaking havoc in the crisis-torn country.
Iraqi security forces have launched major offensives to retake control of the captured areas.
