Israeli Forces Detain 45 Palestinians in West Bank Raids
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces have arrested at least 45 Palestinians, including a child and two women, in a series of overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, Palestinian prisoners’ groups reported on Wednesday.
The arrests, according to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), spanned several governorates, including Hebron (Al-Khalil), Nablus, Tubas, Tulkarem, Ramallah, and Al-Quds.
In a joint statement, the groups included that the arrests were accompanied by home raids characterized by vandalism, verbal threats, and physical abuse directed at detainees and their families.
Among the incidents, Israeli forces interrogated approximately 25 residents in the town of Sa’ir, in the Hebron governorate, leading to two detentions.
In the Ramallah area, Israeli soldiers stormed the Qaddoura camp, detaining dozens of residents for questioning before formally arresting five individuals, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. The nearby city of el-Bireh also saw multiple neighborhoods raided.
In Tubas, Israeli forces besieged two houses in the town of Tammun. WAFA noted that this comes a day after an Israeli airstrike in Tammun killed at least one Palestinian man. Meanwhile, raids in Qalqilya led to the detention of three men and sparked clashes with Palestinian fighters, during which live rounds and sound bombs were reportedly used by the military.
The uptick in arrests follows an Israeli military operation to track suspects involved in a recent deadly attack near the illegal Kedumim settlement, close to Qalqilya. It remains unclear whether those detained are linked to the incident.
Separate arrests were also carried out in Tubas and its surrounding areas. One individual was apprehended in the city of Tubas, while two more were detained in the nearby town of Aqaba.
Amid the heightened tensions, WAFA reported incidents of settler violence in the Qalqilya-Nablus corridor. Stones were allegedly thrown at Palestinian vehicles near the villages of Kafr Laqif, Jinsafut, Amatin, and Funduq, causing extensive damage but no reported injuries.
