Scores of ISIL Militants Killed across Iraq: Security Sources

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Security sources in Iraq said dozens of ISIL militants have been killed in clashes between government forces and the terrorist groups.

The clashes took place in several provinces including Diyala, Anbar and Salahuddin.

Iraqi security sources said 27 Takfiri terrorists were killed in Yasreb-Balad region in the province of Salahuddin, while some 60 extremist-terrorists were also killed in Anbar province in counter terrorism operations, reported Almasalah news website.

Iraqi Counter Terrorism Bureau also said in a statement that its forces, backed by the Air Force, have managed to flush out ISIL militants in parts of Salahuddin province.

Since the senior Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Al Sistani issued a religious decree (Fatwa) and called Iraqis to take up arms against the terrorist group ISIL, hundreds of thousands of people in the Arab country have volunteered to fight against the terrorists.

Iraqi security forces have so far launched major offensives to retake control of the areas captured by the terrorists.

The ISIL terrorist group, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, captured areas on both sides of the Iraqi-Syrian border after seizing the northern city of Mosul on June 10.
