Czech Commercial Delegation Due in Iran Mid-September
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Czech Republic deputy foreign ministry said Wednesday a commercial delegation will travel to Iran in mid-September to study opportunities for investment.
Namestek Martin Tlapa said a delegation of 20 companies and businesspeople will head to Tehran in an attempt to improve mutual economic ties.
“Representatives from auto manufacturers such as Skoda Auto, Tatra, Skoda Transportation as well as textile manufacturers will be in the delegation which is scheduled to be in Tehran from September 13 to 17,” said the Czech official during his meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Majid Takht Ravanchi, reported AFP.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister, for his part, said economic relations with the Czech Republic is crucially important for the Islamic Republic.
“Although sanctions have been imposed, I believe we can as of today pave the way for developing economic cooperation between Iran and the Czech Republic after the removal of sanctions,” added Takht Ravanchi.
Takht Ravanchi emphasized that following the possible removal of anti-Iran sanctions, a sizable window would open up for mutual cooperation between Tehran and Prague.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (alternatively known as P5+1 or E3+3) are in talks to reach a final agreement over Tehran’s nuclear energy program and the removal of unjustified sanctions against Iran.
The two sides are supposed to hold meetings in New York in September.
Iran and the sextet –Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany- clinched a landmark interim deal in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 23, 2013. The agreement took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20.
In July, the two sides agreed on the extension of their discussions until November 24 in an effort to achieve a permanent nuclear deal to settle a decade-long standoff on Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program.
