Iran’s Sousan Hajipour Wins Bronze in Asiad
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian taekwondo player Sousan Hajipour bagged a bronze medal in the 17th Asian Games on Tuesday.
Hajipour lost to Yun Wen Huang from Chinese Taipei 5-0 in the women -53 kg semi-final at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea.
“We expected to win a gold medal. We wanted to make the Iranian people happy,” Iran taekwondo coach Minoo Maddah said.
Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.
Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
