Iran Builds First Lithium Battery Plant

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The first lithium battery factory in Iran will be inaugurated by the country’s defense minister on Tuesday.

Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan will inaugurate the industrial plant, which has been set up by the local experts of the Organization of Energy Resources Promotion, a subsidiary of the country’s Defense Ministry.

There are two kinds of lithium batteries, both of which contain very high levels of energy, usually in small cases.

Lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries, which are rechargeable, are common in consumer electronics, such as in mobile phones and laptops. They are also one of the most popular types of rechargeable batteries for portable electronics, with a high energy density, no memory effect, and only a slow loss of charge when not in use.

And the second type includes Lithium metal batteries, which are non-rechargeable. These are also sometimes called primary (disposable) lithium batteries.
