Iran Urges Media Campaign by Muslims to Foil Islamophobia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s first vice president warned against the spread of Islamophobia by the Western-backed extremists, calling on the Muslim nations to employ media for thwarting the plot.
“With a common attitude, we can use the press, print media, radio and TV, virtual networks, even the cinema and computer games as the potential capacities of Muslim communities for dialogue among ourselves and with the world,” Eshaq Jahangiri said on Wednesday.
He made the remarks in an address to the opening of a conference attended by the information ministers of members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Tehran.
The 10th edition of such conference is entitled “Media Convergence for Establishment of Peace and Calm in the Islamic World.”
The OIC is among the largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations which has membership of 57 states spread over four continents.
Elsewhere in his comments, Jahangiri said the efforts by the Islamic countries should focus on the strategies to thwart the hostile attempts by Israel.
“Violent groups and terrorists are portraying a converse image of Islam and have been able to spread violence and extremism by acquiring the latest information technologies, conform with the Zionist regime (of Israel) and the Western extremists, and fan the flames of Islamophobia in the contemporary world,” he explained.
