Iranian Negotiators in Geneva for New Round of Nuclear Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior Iranian nuclear negotiators left Tehran for Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday to take part in the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).
The Iranian Deputies Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi are leading the Iranian delegation in the talks due to be started from Monday with bilateral meetings between Iran and the US.
The talks on Wednesday will be held among representatives of all negotiating parties at the deputy level.
Hamid Baeidinejad, Davoud Mohammadnia, Mohammad Amiri, Hossein Zamaninia, and a legal expert are among other members of the team.
This is the first round of talks after the extension of negotiation deadline for another seven months.
Araqchi had told the Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday that the negotiations between Iran and the six world powers (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) will be held in Geneva on December 17 at the deputy level.
The US Department of State had also announced that Iran and the United States will have two-day bilateral talks on Monday before the resumption of talks.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had expressed Iran’s serious attitude towards the talks with world powers on its peaceful nuclear program and said that reaching an agreement depends on other side’s determination.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) wrapped up seven days of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna on November 24 without securing a long-awaited comprehensive deal.
They decided to extend talks on Tehran’s civilian nuclear program for seven more months.
