Int’l Conference on Negative Impacts of Sanctions Kicks Off in Tehran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An international conference on the negative impacts of economic sanctions on world states started work today in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The legal basis of sanctions and their negative impacts on the development of world states will be discussed in the two-day conference organized by the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Earlier on Sunday, Mostafa Alayee, an Iranian human rights official, had announced that the OIC Independent and Permanent Commission of Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) has organized this conference to review the legal bases of sanctions and their obstacles in the way of the development of world countries.
He said 18 experts introduced by member countries of the OIC and four other international experts on the human rights and sanctions participate in the event.
Iran's Vice-President for Legal Affairs Elham Aminzadeh and Chief of the Judiciary’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani have delivered speeches in the opening ceremony of the conference.
The conference will call on the United Nations Human Rights Council to develop a mechanism for monitoring sanctions imposed against UN member states.
