Iran’s Red Crescent to Expand Medical Activities in Zimbabwe
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society called for a reform in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the country and Zimbabwe, vowing to expand medical activities in the African country.
Iran should broaden the medical and health services it provides in its Red Crescent center in Zimbabwe, Amir Mohsen Ziaei said in a Saturday meeting with Zimbabwe’s visiting Red Cross Chief Edson Malibu in Tehran.
He also asked for further discussions about details of new MoU.
Malibu, for his part, hailed mutual cooperation with IRCS, saying that his visit to Iran is aimed at finalizing an MoU signed earlier between the Red Crescent and Red Cross societies of Tehran and Harare.
“Iran’s Red Crescent and Zimbabwe’s Red Cross have had good mutual cooperation so far, and we are willing to expand it,” he said.
Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of the Iranian foreign policy.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly said that his government welcomes boosting relations with the African nations.
