Ansarullah Delegation Calls for Meeting with UN Chief over Yemeni Crisis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation from Yemen's Houthi Ansarullah movement, in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, called for an immediate meeting with him and warned that the Yemeni people are "struggling with death" under the Saudi aggression.
The Houthi delegation involved in the UN-brokered peace talks in the Swiss city of Geneva over the Yemeni crisis, asked for a meeting with Ban "anywhere in the world" as soon as possible.
The Ansarullah delegation underlined in the letter that the Yemeni nation has the right to demand that Ban Ki-moon allocate some time, even as little as a few minutes, to meet their representatives, just as he met with the Saudi delegation.
The Yemeni people, who have been targeted by Saudi aggressions and blockade of Yemen, are struggling with death, facing the spread of communicable diseases and suffering from hunger and thirst due to lack of medicine, food and drinking water, the letter added.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
According to Yemen's Health Ministry, the airstrikes have killed more than 2,300 people, including 229 women and 411 children. More than 8,000 others have been also injured in the attacks, including 581 women and 766 children.
The Saudi-led aerial strikes have targeted 61 hospitals and 13 ambulances.
