Spokeswoman Rejects Bahraini Minister's Anti-Iran Remarks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham categorically denied allegations raised by Bahrain’s Interior Minister, who accused Tehran of alleged interference in the Arab state’s internal affairs.

Speaking on Friday, Afkham said Iran has always acted “responsibly and made efforts to strengthen regional peace and stability.”

She also called on Manama officials to deal with the root cause of the problems in their country instead of pursuing the policy of accusing others.

Afkham also said Manama need to adopt “confidence-building” measures to pave the way for serious national dialogue in a bid to end the political challenges that the Persian Gulf island country is facing with.

On July 23, Bahraini Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa had accused Iran  of interfering in the Arab country’s domestic affairs and disrespecting the values of neighborly relations.
