Iranian, Russian FMs to Hold Meeting on Monday: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will pay an official visit to the Russian capital of Moscow on Monday to hold a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, a Russian spokesperson said.

Spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on Saturday that the sides will exchange views on the key issues of global and regional agenda, including the ways to settle the Syrian crisis.

"The foreign ministers will focus on further development of bilateral relations, including in the light of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program agreed in Vienna on July 14," Zakharova told RIA Novosti.

She further said that the upcoming visit would take place in line with the Iranian-Russian political dialogue, which had significantly intensified recently.

The visit would come a month after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The JCPOA would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
