Israeli Attack on Syria’s Quneitera Leaves 5 Civilians Dead
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - An Israeli army helicopter launched a number of rockets towards Syrian territory, targeting the transportation directorate and the governorate building in Quneitera.
Syria’s state-run television network said at least five civilians were killed in the Israeli air strike on an area in the strategic southwestern province of Quneitra close to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
It reported that the attack targeted a "civilian car" in the village of Kom, located some 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the capital, Damascus, before midnight Thursday, and close to a popular market.
The raid came after an Israeli military spokesperson said that rockets had hit the occupied Golan Heights, Al Jazeera reported.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, said that the Israeli bombardments had targeted Syrian military positions in the Quneitra province and reported unspecified casualties among the Syrian troops.
Following the rocket attack on the Occupied Palestine, an Israeli army spokesperson said in a statement that "the (Israeli) army sees Syria as responsible for the fire, and it will pay the price for it".
Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that two rockets landed in the northern Galilee, in the Occupied Palestine, and two in the occupied Golan Heights and that no damage or injuries were reported.
