Iran Defeats S. Korea at FIVB Men's U-23 World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran continued its FIVB Men's U-23 World Championship campaign with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22) victory over South Korea on Tuesday.

The match was held in Pool A at Al Nasr Hall in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Javad Hosseinabadi led Iran with impressive 24 points, including two hard-fought blocks and two aces. He was supported by Pourya Damnabi with 14.

For Korea, Jung Jiseok had 16 points in a losing effort.

Iran opened the campaign with a 3-0 victory over the UAE.

Team Melli will meet Cuba on Wednesday.

Iran has been drawn in Pool A along with the UAE, Italy, Cuba, South Korea and Egypt.

Pool B consists of Russia, Argentina, title-holder Brazil, Turkey, Mexico and Tunisia.

The top two teams in both pools will progress to the semifinals and finals. The third and fourth placed teams from the pool stage will enter a similar playoff format playing for classification from fifth to eighth.
