Iran’s Air Defense Missile System “Talash” Fully Indigenized

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian military experts produced an upgraded version of a home-made air defense missile system, dubbed Talash (Endeavor), which uses homegrown Sayyad (Hunter) missiles to hit high-altitude flying targets.

The new, fully-indigenous version of Talash is synced up with the Iranian air defense missiles, Sayyad-2 and 3, and the Russian-made S-200 missile system has been removed from the gear.

Talash system, compatible with a varied range of missiles, can hit targets in low, medium and high altitudes.

Each unit of the fully-indigenous Talash system includes three vehicles, a truck carrying Patriot-style missile launchers and two command and control vehicles.

Talash-1 is employed for the low and medium altitudes, Talash-2 for medium to high altitudes, and the third one for the high and very high altitudes. Talash-3 had been integrated with the S-200 missile system for stronger performance.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military power is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
